How It Works
Three simple steps to recover a lost item.
1. Item Found & Submitted
A student or staff member finds an item on campus and submits details through our online form. The physical item is handed in to Student Services or held by the finder pending collection.
2. Listed on the Portal
Within 24 hours, the item appears on the Home page listings table where all VUT community members can search and browse by name, category, or campus location.
3. Item Returned
The owner submits a claim with proof of ownership and chooses a campus collection point. The poster reviews the claim before handover.
Purpose of This Portal
VUT is a large, active campus. Students and staff regularly misplace items such as phones, student cards, laptops, notebooks, and personal accessories. Previously, there was no central digital platform to report or search for found items — the community relied on notice boards and word of mouth. This portal gives students a cleaner way to browse listings, submit proof, and arrange item collection on campus.
Developed as part of the Web Management 3.1 module, Faculty of Applied and Computer Science, this project applies modern web development principles to address a real problem experienced by the VUT student body.
